SHALVA Hosts Presentation on Survivors Speaking Out featuring Natalie Harris

SHALVA is an organization in Chicago that supports Jewish women experiencing and healing from domestic abuse, through counseling, supportive services, and community education. In the wake of the Depp v. Heard verdict, SHALVA invited BHH’s Natalie Harris to participate in a  panel conversation with SHALVA therapist Kimberly Shapps to discuss the legal and psychologial risks for survivors speaking out about perpetrators of sexual harassment and violence. Natalie focused on the threat of retaliatory defamation litigation, providing a primer on defamation law and discussing her own experience representing survivors and the importance of trauma-informed legal practice.
