BHH’s Brendan Healey was recently elected to serve as Treasurer of the Media Law Resource Center’s Defense Counsel Section Executive Committee. Brendan was elected at the Defense Counsel Section’s annual meeting on November 19, and he will formally join the five-member Executive Committee in January.
Founded in 1980 by American publishers and broadcasters to assist in protecting free press rights under the First Amendment, the MLRC is a non-profit membership association for content providers in all media, as well as their defense lawyers. The MLRC Defense Counsel Section includes more than 200 law firms around the world that specialize in representing media defendants.
Brendan has longstanding ties to the MLRC. He was a summer intern at the MLRC (then known as the Libel Defense Resource Center) in 1995 while he was in law school, and he has remained active with the organization since then. For several years, Brendan was the vice chair and then co-chair of the MLRC’s Advertising and Commercial Speech Committee, and he recently served as a panelist on the Advertising and Commercial Speech panel at the MLRC’s annual conference.
