As media companies and other businesses cope with the fallout from the Covid-19 pandemic, the $2 trillion CARES Act has provided an important (albeit confusing and difficult to navigate) lifeline. The CARES Act was signed into law on March 27, 2020. The next week, the Baron Harris Healey team gave several presentations to media organizations on navigating the critical provisions of the Act. Baron Harris Healey gave presentations to the Illinois Broadcasters Association and Illinois Press Association on April 2. The next day, Baron Harris Healey did a presentation for the Tennessee Association of Broadcasters as well as the Illinois Broadcasters Association. In its presentations, Baron Harris Healey focused on the Paycheck Protection Program and the Economic Injury Disaster Loan program and also touched on the employment and tax law implications of the CARES Act.
