Baron Harris Healey announced today the newest addition to the firm: Special Project Counsel Jamie Hwang.
Jamie joins the firm from the New York office of leading global firm Davis Polk, where she worked as a corporate attorney in the M&A and Finance practice groups.
While at Davis Polk, she handled complex domestic and international transactions involving companies in the aerospace, biotechnology, broadband communications, consumer goods distribution, cosmetics, industrial raw materials, and power generation industries.
“Jamie is an exceptional attorney with sought-after credentials, and we are delighted to welcome her as a member of our team,” said Steve Baron. “We look forward to her unique contributions to the service clients have come to expect from our firm.”
Jamie’s journalism training from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University will be useful at BHH as she assists with pre-publication content review and intellectual property matters as well as defamation and privacy defense litigation. Prior to pursuing law, Jamie was a journalist with articles in the ABA Journal, Teen Vogue, Huffington Post, and Chicago Magazine.
Jamie is also committed to providing artists and small businesses with much needed pro bono assistance through organizations such as Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts and Start Small Think Big. She worked as a student attorney for Bluhm Legal Clinic’s Center on Wrongful Convictions at Northwestern Law, helping to exonerate a client who spent 28 years incarcerated for a crime he did not commit. She also served on the executive boards of the Arts and Entertainment Law Society and the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association.
Jamie obtained her J.D. at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, where she was a Managing Editor for the Northwestern University Law Review. She also earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, where she was honored as valedictorian of the Medill School.
