Baron Harris Healey announced today its expansion into New York City with the hiring of veteran IP attorney Kay Murray, who brings significant experience working in-house at New York media companies.
As a boutique law firm focused on media law, intellectual property, and business litigation, BHH has counseled clients facing high-stakes litigation and other business challenges since its launch in 2019. The firm’s growing presence in one of the country’s media hubs provides local content creators and distributors with greater access to BHH’s blend of experience, high-quality service, and efficient problem-solving techniques.
“We have long been impressed with Kay, her commitment to artists, and decades of in-house media experience,” Steve Baron said. “We are thrilled to have her join the BHH team to advise on all types of copyright issues and strengthen the services we can offer clients in New York.”
“Kay is a longtime friend and has been my client at two separate media companies. We are lucky to add her exceptional capabilities to our team,” added Brendan Healey.
Kay Murray’s invaluable experience serving as in-house counsel at prestigious media organizations, including First Look Institute, Tribune Company, and the Authors Guild, informs her practical counsel to writers, journalists, artists, publishers, and others involved in media. Laser-focused on minimizing risk and maximizing value, she has earned the trust of media companies and creators alike through every step of development, licensing, and distribution of their work. She centers her practice on libel and privacy, copyright and fair use, newsgathering, and licensing. Kay also advises nonprofit organizations on their intellectual property and compliance with grantmaking, governance, and lobbying regulations. Before starting her career in New York, she earned her J.D. from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law.
“I couldn’t be happier to join this top-notch BHH team of media attorneys and litigators and to bring their brand of proactive and thoughtful IP counsel to New York, the home of some of the best creative talent in the world,” Kay said.
